About the Quantum Class
The Quantum class introduced a new generation of technology-forward cruising when the first ship launched in 2014. Where the Oasis class focused on scale and neighborhoods, the Quantum class focused on experiences and innovations that had never been seen at sea before. RipCord by iFly, a skydiving simulator, was a first for any cruise ship. The North Star, a glass capsule that extends over the ocean on a crane arm, became one of the most photographed features in the fleet. These ships are slightly smaller than the Oasis class, making them more maneuverable and better suited for Alaska, Asia, and ports that cannot accommodate the largest vessels.
Signature Features
- RipCord by iFly — Indoor skydiving simulator, a first at sea
- North Star — Glass observation capsule extending over the ocean
- Seaplex — The largest indoor activity complex at sea, converting between bumper cars, roller skating, circus school, and basketball
- Two70 — A multi-story venue with floor-to-ceiling windows and robotic screens for evening performances
- FlowRider — Surf simulator
- Rock climbing wall
- Bumper cars in the SeaPlex
Dining
Quantum class ships feature the main dining room, Windjammer buffet, and multiple included casual venues. Specialty restaurants include Chops Grille, Jamie’s Italian, Izumi, and Wonderland, one of the most unique dining concepts in the fleet. Dynamic Dining on some ships replaced the traditional main dining room with multiple included restaurants at varying times.
Best For
The Quantum class is ideal for travelers who want cutting-edge onboard technology and activities, Alaska sailings from Seattle, Australian itineraries from Sydney, and East Coast Caribbean sailings from New Jersey or Florida. Ovation of the Seas in Alaska is one of the most spectacular sailing experiences Royal Caribbean offers.
