About Sandals Royal Caribbean
Sandals Royal Caribbean is one of the most unique resorts in the collection. The main resort sits on the Montego Bay waterfront, but its signature feature is a private offshore island connected by a complimentary wooden ferry. On that island sits Sundowner’s, an over-the-water restaurant and bar with panoramic views of Montego Bay’s harbor. Dining with your feet practically over the Caribbean while the sun sets behind the mountains of Jamaica is a genuinely unforgettable experience that no other Sandals property can replicate.
Sandals Royal Caribbean is also one of the overwater bungalow properties in the collection. The glass-floor villas extend over the water with private plunge pools and direct ladder access into the sea. These categories are among the most in-demand at any Sandals property and typically book out well in advance, particularly for peak dates after the December 2026 reopening.
The Private Island
The private offshore island is the defining feature of Sandals Royal Caribbean. The wooden ferry runs continuously throughout the day and evening, giving guests easy access to the island’s restaurant, bar, and beach. Guests who book overwater bungalow categories are housed directly on the island. Other guests stay on the main resort and access the island as often as they like during their stay.
Overwater Bungalows
The overwater bungalows at Sandals Royal Caribbean feature glass floors, private plunge pools, and sea ladder access. As one of the few overwater bungalow locations in the Sandals Jamaica portfolio, these categories command significant demand. After the December 2026 Sandals 2.0 renovation, the overwater inventory will debut in updated condition.
